Houdini is heavy on hardware. For a smooth experience, you will need:

When you first launch the program, choose the option to "Install Free Apprentice License" . This license is valid for 30 days and will automatically renew every time you open the program while connected to the internet. 4. System Requirements (Minimums)

You should only download Houdini from the official SideFX website to ensure you are getting a safe and stable version.

Run the launcher, log in, and select the latest version (currently 20.5 or 21.0) to install.

While you get the full toolset, there are a few "learning-only" restrictions:
