The episode follows the main protagonists—Jim, Toby, and Claire—as they journey into the unfamiliar marshlands of the Quagga-Beast tribe in search of the second (the Birthstone).
: In a critical moment, Claire follows Angor Rot into his shadow portal and steals his staff, robbing him of his ability to create portals. She decides to keep the staff despite Blinky's offer to take it.
