After testifying against his own partner and cousin, Jimmy Detillo, for police brutality, Tom is branded a traitor by his colleagues.

The film concludes with a high-stakes boat chase through Pittsburgh's rivers, ending in a final confrontation where Tom stops Jimmy and finally clears his name. Striking Distance (1993)

During a high-speed chase of the suspected strangler, Tom's father, Vince, is shot and killed. The suspect, Jimmy, supposedly commits suicide by jumping off a bridge, though his body is never found.

The story refers to the 1993 American action thriller Striking Distance (released in Poland as or sometimes informally referred to by its literal translation, "Uderzenie" in some circles).

Two years later, Tom has been demoted to the River Rescue unit. A new series of murders begins, and the victims are all women Tom has previously dated.
